It took Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath years to finally be chosen as inductees to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. So perhaps it's too much to ask that Stevie Ray Vaughan be chosen in his first year of eligibility...yet when you hear who WAS, it's a tad bit frustrating...

Jeff Beck, Chic, Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Metallica, Run-D.M.C., the Stooges, War and Bobby Womack are this year's nominees for induction into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will select artists to be inducted April 4 in Cleveland.

The list omits Stevie Ray Vaughan in his first year of eligibility. "Texas Flood" came out in 1983 and to be eligible an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

The five nominated acts most likely to get in are Beck, Metallica, Run-DMC, Wanda Jackson and the Stooges. All deserving (even though I don't know who Wanda Jackson is, I'm sure she's a great fit for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame).

I'm disappointed SRV isn't on the list but, it is his first year eligible. RUSH still isn't in and they've been eligible for 10 years. It took Black Sabbath 10 years. It took Lynyrd Skynyrd 7 years. It took Eric Clapton 4. And it took Van Halen 3 years.

But Chic? I know, I know, they try to keep the list diverse. A little rock, a little soul...but SRV has BOTH baby!
