After Robert Plant definitively stated that he will not participate in a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, signs that the others will NOT go on to do their own thing...

Jason Bonham

[October 6, 2008] - While Zep lead singer, Robert Plant, was sending mixed signals about whether or not he planned to tour with the greatest rock band of all time, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham's son, Jason, were jamming together in London.

After those jam sessions were confirmed, statements were made indicating that whether or not a "Led Zeppelin" reunion actually happened, there would be SOME sort of project involving Page, Jones and Bonham, Jr.

Then Bonham announced he'd be quitting Foreigner. Ooooh, we thought. MUST be because he's got something cookin' with the Zep dudes (even though he said it was to spend more time with his family in Florida.)

Here's what Jason Bonham said in August: "I've been over [to England] a couple of times," Bonham said. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do ... some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing."

He added that was still too early to tell what will become of these "jam" sessions, but admitted that the "possibility of doing something is in the cards. I really felt it was in the cards from the moment we walked offstage at the [Led Zeppelin reunion concert at] O2 [in London in December 2007]."

A very short time after our hopes peaked, Robert Plant announced he would NOT be recording or touring with Page, Jones and Bonham and would instead be taking time off after his tour with Allison Krauss.

Well, today comes word that Jason Bonham has put his 57-hundred-square-foot, 7-bedroom English countryside home up for sale and will live in Florida full-time. It's on three acres and is priced at about $2.6 million. Interested? I know a guy who can get you a great mortgage...Oh wait, he's in the pokey now.

The consensus among 96.5 WHTQ listeners seemed to indicate they would pay good money to see Page, Jones and Bonham, Jr. - even without Plant - as long as it was not billed as Led Zeppelin. Does this mean we will not get the chance?

From where I sit, if the guy who created the most amazing riffs in rock is feeling re-energized and wanting to play with his supremely talented Led Zep bassist brother John Paul Jones and John Bonham's passionate, beatkeeping son, I'm ready to plunk down some cash to see it. It won't be Led Zeppelin but it will still be great. So, still I wait...

  • No Plant No worries
Oh gawd. When did Led Zepppelin get to be the rober plant band? NO PLANT NO WOPRRIES! BRING ON LED ZEPPELIN! WITH OR WITHOUT THE PLANT!jones and page were and ARE the key to led zeppelin music, NOT rp's caterwauling janis joplin impersonation
  • Plant A Disappointment
You know, the world does not revolve around Robert Plant. If you read the history on the greatest group that ever lived, Plant was always the stuck-up one anyways. Yes, everyone is right, no Plant, no Zep, BUT, Jones, Page, Bonham, let's go for it!!! It wil still kick-ass. I have been a ZEP fan for 49 years and proud of it!!
  • Led Zeppelin
Plant is necessary for Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin dosent need percy plant. I think weve been to hard on the "golden god" hes been forced say everything except that HES TOO DAMN OLD. REAL singing is physical work, and he obviously hasnt taken very good care of himself. The moaning, grunting, anD mubling he did on the alison krauss album IS PROBABLY ABOUT ALL HE CAN MANAGE so lets cut him some slack. RE-FORM Zep without him. get someone younger and hardier, get busy on some NEW material, and out the pathertic nostalgia trip in the past. They are a BAND after all, not a patheon of gods, and bands make music. SO Page, Jones, Get busy, we have enough "historic" complilations for another 2 generations already
  • LED ZEPPELIN
NO PLANT NO ZEPPELIN THATS THE WAY THAT
THE WAY IT GOTTA BE. BUT PAGE COULD DO A
SOLO CD W/JONES AND BONHAM ALL INSTAMENTS
