@#$! That's what we said when the Tampa Aerosmith/ZZ Top show was postponed - and definitely what Steven Tyler said when he RIPPED HIS QUADRICEP muscle on stage setting off a bunch no-shows...

After a string of postponed dates due to an undisclosed artist injury, we now know what happened. Our two Florida dates have not yet been rescheduled but at least we can look forward to weather that's a bit cooler when they do come back.

Tickets purchased for the Ford Amphitheatre concert will be honored at the rescheduled date.

Update - July 13, 2009 - Blabbermouth reports:

Regarding Steven Tyler's injury which led to the band's recent string of concert postponements, drummer Joey Kramer said, "There's two big muscles in your legs, one's the quadricep, and [Tyler] ripped that muscle. And it's painful, it hurts; for the first couple of days, he couldn't even stand up or walk or anything, so... [He injured it] jumping around on the stage."

Tyler had surgery on both feet last year, telling The Pulse of Radio that 30-plus years of performing live had caught up with him. "The way I dance around onstage, it's taken its toll," he said. "They've got to take the nerves out and, you know, it hurts like hell. You know, I've just about destroyed my feet. But I never feel it when I'm onstage, I'll tell you that much."

Aerosmith's Joe Perry has indicated in recent Twitter posts that guitarist Brad Whitford, who sat out the first part of the tour to recover from a head injury, was "up and ready to rock as soon as Steven's leg muscle feels better."

The group's last show was on June 29 in Connecticut, where fans reported seeing Tyler strain something in his leg.

"Sincere apologies out 2 all Aero Fans regarding the cancelled shows. It really bums me out too- you have no idea. Pray 4 Stevens speedy return," guitarist Joe Perry wrote on his Twitter before the two Florida shows were added to the postponement list.

The guitarist was also the one who broke the news to Florida fans, via Twitter, that those shows would BE postponed. Only to have to backtrack and saw he "jumped the gun" after promotors apparently became upset at the leaked news. The official postponement did, of course, come to pass 24 hours later.

Tyler's injury is the latest in a long list of ailments that have hit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band in recent years, forcing them to delay the recording of their new album. In 2006, Tyler required throat surgery while bassist Tom Hamilton was treated for throat cancer.

As previously reported, last year Tyler checked into rehab in order to recuperate from foot surgeries and suffered from pneumonia and Perry needed knee replacement surgery. The surgery site got dangerously infected and another surgery was necessary. Now this...

Oh the troubles of aging rock stars that can't do at 60 what the once did in their 20s. Life is cruel but the pay is much better than when they started.
